This guide provides how-to instructions for getting started with Mobile Backend Services (MBS) datasources.

  1. Creating a datasource
  2. Creating a user
  3. Retrieving the app key

Creating a datasource

To create a standalone Mobile Backend Services datasource (an MBS datasource not tied to a specific client application):

  1. Log into the AMPLIFY Platform.
  2. Select Dashboard on the Dashboard tile.
  3. Click the Add menu (+) in the top navigation bar.
  4. Select Create Mobile Backend Services Datasource.
  5. Enter the Name for the datasource.
  6. If you have multiple environments, select the environments to enable for the datasource.
  7. Assign teams to the application by selecting the + icons from the Assign Teams list.
  8. Click Create. Dashboard will redirect you to the Overview tab for the new MBS datasource.

For additional information on managing MBS datasources, refer to Managing Mobile Backend Services Datasources.

  1. Getting started using a standalone MBS datasource in your configurations or flows includes the following steps:

This repeats a lot of the first sentence, but also, "getting started... in your configurations or flows" doesn't make much sense from an MBS PoV.  Maybe just delete it?

    1. Deleted the sentence per comment.

  2. Enter a name for the datasource

Enter the Name for a datasource

    1. Updated per comment.

  3. To manage Mobile Backend Services data objects, you must be an administrator or the application creator.

There's no context here.  "you must be an administrator" - "is that me? Is that what this is, a data object?  I thought I was creating a user... ".  I don't even know what an "application creator" even is.

    1. Deleted the note.

  4. Note the username and password. You need the username and the password to configure connectivity to a MBS connector. For additional MBS connector information, refer to MBS Connector.

Not sure this should be a numbered line-item.  Looks more like a note.

    1. Converted to a note.

  5.

    • Enter the username for the user in the Username field.

    • Enter an email address for the user in the Email field.
    • Enter a password for the user in the Password field.
    • ...
    • (Optional) If necessary, complete the additional fields and change the Admin and Photo Type selections.

I liked how it was written here: https://docs.axway.com/bundle/Mobile_Backend_Services_allOS_en/page/admin_access.html

    • At a minimum, enter the Username, Email, and Password.
    • Click Save.

    1. Rewrote to minimize the number of steps.

  6. Note the App Key. You need the App Key to configure connectivity to a MBS connector. For additional MBS connector information, refer to MBS Connector.

This is specifically linking to API Builder MBS connector, but wouldn't mobile app developers need to note this key too?  I am not sure if we should be mentioned here at all, or at the very least, not the only link.

    1. Rewrote and converted the step to a note.

  7. Should the MBS connector links point to docs.axway.com or this wiki (since it's the same wiki)?

    1. Due to a Zoomin defect and because of the link being across wiki spaces, the link must be a web link pointing to docs.away.com.
